blogging profit system - legend and platform

Hey, it’s Kris!

In Blogging Profit System I’m going to be giving you the EXACT system I use to make profits with stupid-simple blogs. I’m really glad I decided to make the change from just a dating blogger to being able to blog about what I want. Now I can tell people why on a decent platform! This will be part 1 of 4, and I’ll be shelling them out over the next few days.

Now, first of all let me tell you this. This system is powerful. Over the past few months I’ve learned tons about search engine optimization, blogging, and ways to make money online and make money blogging. This is somewhat related to a system called Google Sniper by George Brown (excellent system – highly recommend it) but I can come up with easier ways for you to do this, and Action Steps to complete; it’s related to Linkwheel Explained by the Lemonarion – which I made a little simpler for me to make personally; and I’ll be grabbing tips from Darren Rowse’s 31 Days to Build a Better Blog.

They’re all recommended, and of course – I do have some of my own tips from experience.

Okay… I want to start off with Mindset.

:: Mindset ::

mindset

I want you to start this off right; in order to do so, you’ll need the right blogging cash frame of mind. You need to build a business, not a hobby or something for purely for entertainment. I’m not saying you can’t have fun, or make this something part-time – but you need a discipline that comes with this.

This system isn’t hard to go through… Maybe less than a day to make one. And potentially $300-1000+ extra dollars per month! Not bad for a days work, huh?

If you went after it as a hobby, or something to fill in time, then you’ll never see the potential. Get stuff done, and see results… Guaranteed.

Let’s go make some money.

With that said, I’m going to dive right into the crystal-clear waters of Developing your Legend.

:: Developing your Legend ::

legend

Everybody hero needs a legend. Every blogger needs something that makes him or her special, and unique, and personal from every other person. Not only this, but also – name 4 facts you were supposed to have learned in school. Can’t think of any, can you? Or if you did it was probably slowly. Now think of 4 facts you learned about Barack Obama, or Brad Pitt, or Angelina Jolie, or whomever.

You remember them right? You know who they are, what they’re about, and probably love them to bits!

My story (basically) over at Roxstar Seduction (my first blog, which just got a revival =) ):

“I absolutely sucked at dating! I needed to meet women – BAD. I stumbled with my words, I had weird crushes, and I was awkwarrddd. I failed with girls – I mean, I bombed. I even sent myself into a spiral of depression… I was basically a loner, looking for some love.

I tried dressing up in “interesting outfits” (which I know now sucked). I tried being a gangster – but I was a wangster. And I tried being a deep and mystical being, who was sweet and wrote poetry. Don’t even need to mention how bad I failed… I just became a puppet to the girls. It didn’t really change until I found out some secrets.

I became suddenly able to talk to women, and started seeing continual  improvements every single day and week! At once point, I even dated 3 women at once at one point.

My secret was Swinggcat. He showed me the way (incidentally with sales copy, but whatever). He got me to open my eyes to what was possible. On-top of that – I made friends with some guys who were absolutely awesome with girls! I knew that nothing could stop me after that (well, sort of).

I had bumps and bruises from getting to know the ins-and-outs of everything, but it didn’t take long for me to start meeting cool girls. And I was only 15 when I started! If you want to find out how to meet awesome girls then you should check out my blog!

Click here to check out Roxstar Seduction.

There you go. That’s basically the story right there. You don’t really need the last part, but I’ll tell you what I included in there. (I’ll be breaking it down thoroughly in a later post, but for now all you need is something to put on the “About” page.)

My struggles, my successes, and what changed. I didn’t make myself perfect, like many people try to… They make themselves godly. Now, is that really believable?? Come on. Like what if I said, “I’ve never ever failed at getting women – I get them 100% of the time. I’m so awesome.”

You just look like a major douche-bag.

They won’t learn anything, or feel like they can relate to you. People don’t want a Perfect person; they want an Excellent person. Unless they’re perfect themselves… but then they wouldn’t have needed your site.

You can learn more about this concept from Google Sniper – it’s called pre-selling.

Click here to check out Google Sniper.

Your “About” Page

These are going to be some tips from the ProBlogger himself – Darren Rowse.

Click here to see the original post about making your about page.

His is a little different than mine, since I make an about page. But I still highly recommend it.

In short, this is what you do (according to Darren):

“There are four main questions that readers want answered on your About Me page:

  1. who you are…
  2. your expertise and how it addresses…
  3. their problem or goal, and how they can…
  4. contact you”

There you go! Simple, simple stuff.

You’ll also need to break it down – so don’t make it too long if you can help it. Just come up with some bullet points for it.

Your Pics

This is pretty important actually. Again, you want to be very personal and make people feel comfortable on your site. This will affect the profits for your site. You want every advantage you can, while still being incredibly ethical.

Here’s mine (it’s on the side of my site, as well):

17-09-09_1733

My girlfriend took that picture on one of our Monthiversaries =]. I thought it’d be a great pic to put up.

As you’ll notice, I have:

  1. A smile – IMPORTANT! You want to be smiling. I don’t care if you never smile again, or use a picture of somebody who is smiling. Have a smiling picture.
  2. It doesn’t look like it’s a professional shot (which is good be very personal)
  3. I look good – I just enjoy my outfit that day =P

ACTION STEP:

  1. Grab a pen and paper, or type this out – find somehow to write it down. Don’t just keep it in your head!
  2. Write down:
  3. Your struggles – bad times you’ve been through (that relate to this subject…)
  4. Your accomplishments – things that make you that excellent person
  5. What changed – what made you the way you are
  6. What makes you different from everybody else – how are you unique from others? … You are special and unique, aren’t you? (Yes you are. You are not a carbon-copy of somebody else).
  7. Find your picture – remember: Smile. =) And don’t be over-professional.

Notes:

  • Be humble – that’s why you have some struggles
  • Don’t be over-humble – be able to take credit sometimes (thus the accomplishments)

And that’s a wrap. Onto our next subject =)

:: Choosing Your Blogging Platform ::

platform

Yeah, you pretty much have 3 different options when it comes to your blogging platform:

  1. Free, built-in hosting
  2. Free, self-hosted
  3. Paid, self-hosted

I’ve seen a lot of options, and people don’t ever talk about the free, self-hosted option. I can see why, I guess, but it’s a great alternative to paying! It has positives from free, and paid hosting. It’s limited, but it works great.

Free, Built-In Hosting

This one is infamous, and works perfectly well. It’s using Wordpress.com and Blogspot.com. I started off with this, and now it’s PR1 after doing nothing the last few months, gets hits daily for SEO I did months back, and my most famous blog among people I know.

Click here to check out my free, built-in hosting blog.

The benefits of this are:

  1. You don’t have to pay
  2. It has some decent options
  3. Functionable
  4. Wordpress and Blogspot blogs rank well, and I have experience with them

The down-sides are:

  1. yourdomainname.wordpress.com or yourdomainname.blogspot.com doesn’t always rank as well as yourdomain.com
  2. Limited options
  3. |—> Limited options means less custom SEO

On that note, I’d like to mention – these hosts do a lot of the options automatically. Here’s what I mean: with the self-hosted options you can choose to have sitemaps and no-follow tags (meaning the search engines don’t follow certain links). It’s even a good thing because that means Google won’t slap you for having duplicate content (which is killer and can plummet your ranks!).

But, in the end, it works perfectly well, and you’ll still get a great deal of success regardless.

Wordpress vs Blogger.

If it were a boxing match, then I’d be betting on Wordpress. Blogger is owned by Google, and they used to love their own sites! But now they don’t… They can get indexed, but not nearly as quickly. And Wordpress is also liked by Bing, apparently – don’t quote me on that – I don’t have any personal experience with it; in fact, I’ve gotten a lot of traffic from Bing to my blogspot blog, Roxstar Seduction.

Wordpress also grabs Blogger by the balls by having a nice layout, and lots of easy customizable options. You can easily install new themes and settings without potentially irreversibly damaging your blog. It even has a built-in sitemap builder. just type int youblogname.wordpress.com/sitemap.xml, whereas with blogspot you need to go through a tedious process…

My recommendation, if you go with a Free, Built-In-Hosting Blog solution – use WordPress.com.

Click here to go to Wordpress.com – the obvious winner.

Click here to go to Blogspot.com – a good solution, but still not as good…

And feel free to use other sites like Tumblr, or Xanga, or setting up a MySpace blog – anything with a PR4 or higher. You can check with PRChecker.info’s tool. The choices are endless.

Free, Self-Hosted

This one is like a dirty, little secret I have… And it’s an awesome one. Nobody really talks about this, and it’s reasonably so – but I’ve found they work pretty damn well for what we’re doing. I’ve found a few good free hosts, maybe you could find better (and recommend them to me – I’d feature them on this site).

These are just a few choices, there are tons of hosting options out there. I just know these three work for me, and they’re functional.

I’ve tried other hosts like HelioHost, x10Hosting, and L4rge hosting and they’re pretty good as well. However, for HelioHost I had limited sites, and I was under strict rules. In x10Hosting I don’t remember, and for L4rge I don’t remember… I just remember there was “something” that I didn’t like. Anyways, feel free to check them out.

Another site that I used to find good, free hosts was a site called Free-WebHosts.com. They have user and admin ratings so you know what’s the best overall host.

Terms:

  • Bandwidth: traffic + data exchange
  • Disk Space: how much space you have for files

My recommended resources for Free, Self-Hosted blogs:

Pros & Cons…

Free-Web-Host;

Good:

  • Lots of disk space – 3000 MB – much more than you’ll need unless you use it to host large files.
  • Unlimited bandwidth – this means unlimited amount of traffic, and data exchanging
  • Updating WordPress and plugins is super-simple – just use the automatic update button (unlike ByetHost)
  • Have domain name servers (DNS) – you can easily have your own, real domain name (.com, .net, etc.) and if you’re going to go completely free I recommend Co.cc (yes that’s their whole site name, lol)
  • Good sub-domains – they’re very short. It goes like yourdomain.200u.com or yourdomain.200w.com so it’s not anything overly bothering and easy to spell.

Bad:

  • They are offline a lot – my site KrisRoxas.co.cc is hosted by them and its been offline for more than 24 hours at times. They have apparently upgraded their service – so hopefully this doesn’t happen anymore!
  • Softaculous (which manages their scripts) no longer uses WordPress in their free version. So you’ll need to manually install it, but it’s dead-easy anyways

ByetHost;

Good:

  • Lots of disk space – 5500 MB of disk space
  • Lots of bandwidth – 200 GB of bandwidth – you probably wouldn’t even need near that much
  • Hosts WordPress software (WordPress.org) – the main tool you’ll need, and the version they have is perfectly fine for the plan
  • Great subdomains – they have cool, and funny names for you to use. I have a site (not sure if it’s still up) called KrisRoxas.izkool.com or something like that and it was funny and flattering to have. =P

Bad:

  • Hard to update WordPress… You’ll need to do it manually. It’s still very easy to do, but it can be a pain.
  • Even though it has lots of features, it’s limited
  • The version of WordPress is only version 2.7.1 (and right now they’re at 2.8.6, going on 2.9 soon). Again, still easy to update.

FreeHostia;

Good:

  • Automatically installs your WordPress onto your site
  • Easy to use

Bad:

  • Limited space…
  • The version of WordPress is 2.8.1, however, it’s not hard to update and 2.8.1 is good enough still for what we’re going to be doing =)

The great thing about Free, Self-Hosted blogs is that you can have a lot of benefits from paid hosts (except the paid part). It’s limited, but can be an excellent solution.

Free, Self-Hosted versus a Free, Built-In-Hosting blog I’d say that doing this will be about even. It depends if you want to have more options. With Self-hosted you can have lots and lots of options.

If you’re trying to build a long-term blog – go with the SELF-Hosted.

If you’re trying to go with a short-term blog – go with the BUILT-IN-Hosted.

Simple.

Paid, Self-Hosted.

These are awesome, and it’s what my KrisRoxas.com (this site) is hosted on. It has tons of features (much more than the previous two) and it’s best for building a long-term business.

Here’s my number 1 recommendation for hosting:

affiliate_link

http://Fatcow.com

This is the single-best host I’ve found, after months of searching. You get Unlimited Bandwidth and Disk Space AND a FREE domain name for LIFE (they’re usually about 10 bucks per year). Pretty good deal, and for about $66 per year.

But I’ll be honest, you’re gonna want protection on your site so the total bill might sit at about 80 dollars…

You do get $50 in AdWords credits, and $25 in Yahoo! credits. It has WordPress. It’s a great solution. They’ve just got a serious plan, here.

Anyways, a few other features are that you get to host an unlimited number of websites – no limit, domains and subdomains.

Click Here to learn more about FatCow.

They have great support, and usually get back to you in about a half hour, or so. I’m very satisfied with them. Lol, and I won’t lie – that is an affiliate link! But don’t buy from it – just check it out first.

But, if you’re really that concerned that I’m a scammer or something then I’ll let you yell and bitch at me at a personal email of mine. KrisRoxas@hotmail.com

Go ahead. I don’t care – if you have any complaints I’ll listen to them personally. And if you can prove to me that you paid for FatCow through my link then I’ll even give you a free gift! I’ll tell you the single-biggest blogging income secret.

Bring on the complaints =) I’m sure they’ll be resolved.

All the features of FatCow can be shown at their site.

Click Here to visit FatCow’s official site.

Lol, enough showing of that now. Here are my other recommendations.

WebHostingPad.com – $1.99 per month.

JustHost.com – $3.95 (Canadian) per month.

iPage.com – $3.50 per month.

This blog post is almost (finally) over. Over 2500 words now, and still 3 more parts to go. Here’s your next Action Step.

ACTION STEP:

  • Choose your hosting solution - this really depends on your needs.

Notes:

  • Completely free, fast, and willing to have some SEO (search engine optimization) consequences and less consequences, then choose Wordpress.com or Blogspot.comShort-term blog suggested
  • Completely free, simple to setup, willing to tinker around a little bit, then choose Free-Web-Host, FreeHostia, or ByetHostShort or long-term; tinker around with these if you’re looking for more personalization or fire-power
  • Premium quality site, professional tools, services, and support, then choose Fatcow.com, Webhostingpad, iPage, or JusthostShort or long-term; depends on your plan or preference
  • You do not need to set it up yet – you only need to be sure of your platform

Lol… after a few days writing, and now over 2600 words I’ll be posting part two soon enough =P It’s going to be about Search Engine Optimization. That’ll be a lo-o-o-t of stuff.
